Art in The Current Economy

What a time to be living in, but then again, perhaps that can be said for all times. The rise of the internet has created, as we know, a much smaller world for all of us. For artists, in this case, it is incredible how fast an image can become public and begin to be circulated around the world. Mind boggling...I wonder what Pollock would have thought of the internet? Or if he, especially, would have even bothered. Perhaps not!

So what of art and artists in this current "down economy"? So much is being said about such an economy being ripe for artistic expression. Sure, but then again, artists are going to be busy at all economic times, pondering their next moves, next pieces, etc...The current "down economy" just gives more fuel to the fire. I think for me if it does anything, it underscores both how vulnerable we all are, and how interconnected we all are. And as such, perhaps that becomes reflected in the work itself.

  1. Great read and thought provoking would love to pick your brain about art/business and how you navigate it in this economy.
